Elles ne vieillissent pas, et continuent de nous rappeler la pouss\u00e9e d\u2019\u00e9nergie et de radicalit\u00e9 qui accompagne l\u2019invention d\u2019un style. Aujourd\u2019hui, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker aborde pour la premi\u00e8re fois les commencements d\u2019un g\u00e9ant de l\u2019aventure minimaliste en musique : <strong>Philip Glass<\/strong>. Radicale et intemporelle, cette musique se distingue par un m\u00e9lange paradoxal d\u2019hyper-formalisme et d\u2019appel \u00e0 la transe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Music in Contrary Motion, Music in Fifths, Music in Similar Motion, Music with Changing Parts<\/em> : les pi\u00e8ces choisies par De Keersmaeker datent toutes les quatre <strong>des ann\u00e9es 1969-1970, <\/strong>p\u00e9riode tr\u00e8s f\u00e9conde dans le parcours du compositeur. Elles portent la trace d\u2019une rencontre : lors de ses \u00e9tudes \u00e0 Paris, quelques ann\u00e9es plus t\u00f4t, Philip Glass avait \u00e9t\u00e9 engag\u00e9 comme assistant par le compositeur et sitariste indien Ravi Shankar. Celui-ci avait demand\u00e9 de transcrire sa musique en notation occidentale, et ce probl\u00e8me difficile \u00e0 r\u00e9soudre avait agi pour Glass comme une r\u00e9v\u00e9lation : \u00ab J\u2019ai effac\u00e9 toutes les barres de mesure. Et soudain, j\u2019ai vu le flux du rythme. \u00bb (When I took the bar lines away, I saw the flow of the rhythm that I hadn&rsquo;t seen.) C\u2019est \u00e0 ce moment que le jeune artiste d\u00e9couvre le potentiel d\u2019une musique bas\u00e9e sur une combinatoire de cellules** tr\u00e8s br\u00e8ves. Cette technique permet de cr\u00e9er un flux musical vertigineux et rapide comme un torrent, \u00e0 la fois r\u00e9p\u00e9titif et impr\u00e9visible.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 son retour \u00e0 New York en 1967, un nouveau choc artistique attend Philip Glass. Sobri\u00e9t\u00e9 et r\u00e9duction sont devenus les mots d\u2019ordre de l\u2019art moderne am\u00e9ricain, que d\u00e9fendent des plasticiens comme Sol LeWitt, Richard Serra et Donald Judd. C\u2019est toute cette aventure esth\u00e9tique qui nourrit le projet GLA55. Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker y renoue avec un mot d\u2019ordre qui a travers\u00e9 toute sa carri\u00e8re : <strong>exploiter au maximum un mat\u00e9riau abstrait r\u00e9duit au minimum.<\/strong> \u00c0 cela s\u2019ajoute la notion de transe, et l\u2019obsession du tournoiement. <strong>Cercles, spirales et ellipse<\/strong>s seront les figures majeures de ce spectacle en dix mouvements, ainsi que la courbe que les g\u00e9om\u00e8tres appellent le lemniscate , le \u221e, le ruban de l\u2019infini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker r\u00e9unit pour l\u2019occasion <strong>six danseurs de Rosas et les musiciens de l\u2019ensemble BL!NDMAN<\/strong>, dont les enregistrements de Glass sortis en 2024 (\u00ab iCONS,&nbsp;The American Minimalists \u00bb) ont \u00e9t\u00e9 salu\u00e9s par une critique unanime,&nbsp; ainsi que ses complices de <strong>l\u2019ensemble Ictus (&#8230; pour leur seizi\u00e8me collaboration !)<\/strong>. Ils partageront leurs approches convergentes de la musique de Philip Glass, \u00e0 la recherche d\u2019une exp\u00e9rience transcendantale et d\u2019une pratique de la danse qui, \u00e0 l\u2019instar de la musique qui la porte, \u00ab efface toutes les barres de mesure \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>GLA55, d\u2019une dur\u00e9e de 55 minutes, se pr\u00e9sente en deux versions diff\u00e9rentes : en configuration \u00ab blackbox \u00bb ou en dispositif circulaire.
