Zoë Demoustier

Zoë Demoustier (1995) is a Brussels-based choreographer and performer with a background in contemporary dance, Dutch mime, and cultural research. The body serves as her starting point for visual representations, linking movement with current and committed topics to create choreographic work with diverse bodies. Since graduating in 2017 from the Academy for Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam (Mime, Physical Theatre) and the Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema, and Sound in Brussels (Directing), she has built a wide network across Flanders, Brussels, and the Netherlands, and has worked internationally in cities such as Vienna, Montreal, and Milan.

Zoë has collaborated with a range of companies, including Kabinet K, Alma Söderberg/Manyone, Michiel Vandevelde, Iris Bouche/Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, David Weber-Krebs, and Marcelo Evelin. Her notable performances include Unfolding an Archive (Ultima Vez/STUK), Beating Choir/Choeur Battant (BRONKS BE & Le Carrousel CA), Nesten en Wat Was & Wat Nu (fABULEUS), and the critically acclaimed What Remains (Ultima Vez), which was selected for the 2023 Theater Festival and received international recognition. In 2026, her latest creation Hear The Silence (laGeste, Ultima Vez, KVS) premiered at KVS in Brussels.

Together with Oihana Azpillaga and Barbara T’Jonck, she founded the artist-run organization Platform In De Maak, which facilitates alternative spaces for emerging stage makers. In 2021, Zoë served as an ambassador for Dag van de Dans, resulting in the online documentary Dansmakers van Morgen, aimed at giving visibility to new dance artists.

In 2022, she began a new collaboration as a choreographer at Ultima Vez and a structural residency collaboration with Ultima Vez, LAB Hasselt, and 30CC Leuven to develop her work. Zoë is affiliated as a researcher with the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and as a lecturer at the Academy of Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam and De Kunsthumaniora in Brussels.

Currently, she is conducting a two-year research project titled The Flemish Wave Revisited: Towards an Intergenerational Dialogue with Dance Heritage and she is working on the performance A Wave, which will premiere in 2027.
