Double Bill: Marimba Phase / Piano Phase & Hoketus
Rosas & ICTUS / Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker
Two powerful duets come together in one evening, set to music by Steve Reich and Louis Andriessen.
Both performances are available in different versions allowing to combine and shape a programme that best fits the context of your theatre or festival.
MARIMBA PHASE / PIANO PHASE
The first movement of Fase, set to Steve Reich’s minimalist composition Piano Phase (1967), performed on marimba.
Dance version: Two dancers perform the first movement of ‘Fase’. With recorded music (piano or marimba – TBC) or with live music performed on marimba by two musicians from Ictus.
Concert version: ‘Marimba Phase’ performed live by two musicians from Ictus.
HOKETUS
Hoketus brings together Louis Andriessen’s music and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s choreography in a work driven by rebellious energy and dissonance. Inspired by the gestural vocabulary of battle and rivalry, the choreography gradually unfolds into a complementary “pas de deux”.
Available with recorded music or with live music by Ictus or performed by local music students under their guidance.
This performance can also be presented as a standalone 30-minute piece, suitable for a variety of contexts.
