SOLO

For the very first time, Pepijn Ronaldo takes to the stage on his own. SOLO is a search for his own artistic voice in a world filled with dreams and expectations.

Pepijn follows in the footsteps of seven generations of comédiens. As a young boy, he took his first steps on the stage of Circus Ronaldo. After completing his training at the ‘École Internationale de Théâtre Lassaad’, Pepijn returned to his family. He was part of the productions Applaus, Da Capo and Sono io? – a performance he created together with his father Danny Ronaldo, for which he received the award for ‘Best Actor’ in 2022.

Pepijn is a creator in the broadest sense of the word. He is a performer and director, but equally a technician, craftsman, juggler, driver, artist, composer, musician, tailor, scenographer and tent builder.

Until now, his artistic journey has been guided by the people around him. Now the time has come to find his own path: to feel his way through the dark, driven by curiosity, and to discover a voice that is truly his own.

SOLO becomes a balancing act between his own dreams and the expectations of the audience. Like a conversation between performer and spectator, Pepijn explores what is “good enough” for this defining moment. Because what are we actually looking for? Is it the spectacle? The gags and the tricks? Or is it the human element, with everything that comes with it: doubt, fear, joy, and vulnerability?

SOLO is an ambitious race against time. Will this young circus artist lose himself in the overwhelming weight of expectations and desires, or will he discover himself within them?
